Support
Updated October 2, 2026
Boollm runs on your own computer. There is no Boollm account, no sync service and no remote session for anyone to look into, so the fastest route to an answer is usually to send the details yourself.
Write to [email protected]. Please include:
- Which edition you are using - Windows direct download, Microsoft Store, or Linux - and the version shown in Settings › About.
- What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.
- Whether it happens every time or only sometimes.
Do not send passwords, API keys, private files or financial information. Support receives only the information you choose to send.
Before you write
- The app will not open on Linux. Update the Snap with
sudo snap refresh boollm, unlock your desktop keyring if prompted, and reopen Boollm. Follow any setup guidance shown in the app; do not delete your profile or saved keys. - A model will not load. Large models need free memory. Try a smaller model, or lower Context length in Settings › Advanced.
- Answers are slow. The Linux edition runs on your CPU. Speed depends on your processor and the size of the model you chose.
- A cloud provider is refusing. Check that provider's account, key and quota. Cloud providers work on Windows and Linux with your own API key.
Install Boollm on Linux
Boollm is now publicly available from the Snap Store for Intel/AMD 64-bit Linux computers with snapd. Choose Install on the store page, or run:
sudo snap install boollm
Already installed from the Snap Store? Get the latest stable update with sudo snap refresh boollm. The keyring setup fix is included in version 0.9.265-snap.26 (Store revision 4).
Open Boollm from your applications menu, unlock your desktop keyring if prompted, then use Discover Models to download a compatible GGUF model. No model is included. You can also connect a supported cloud provider with your own API key.
On supported desktops, new profiles use an app-specific secure key automatically, without granting broad access to your desktop password manager. Your desktop may still ask you to unlock its keyring. Installing or updating the Snap may require administrator approval; ordinary launches do not require an administrator password for this setup.
The Snap edition does not include bundled Codex or Claude Code, Automations, Monitors, Browser & Passwords, or Avatar Studio. It uses a separate profile from the ordinary Linux app and does not import that app's chats or keys.
Linux Snap permissions and capture
Existing profiles and desktops without secure-key portal support. An older profile may need a one-time permission grant to unlock its original key and migrate safely. Desktops without the required portal may still need the legacy permission. Follow the app's setup instructions only if requested; broad keyring access is not the normal first step for a new profile on a supported desktop.
If Boollm specifically requests the legacy keyring connection, an administrator can run sudo snap connect boollm:password-manager-service locally. This grants broad desktop-password-manager access. Review the request before approving it, and do not disconnect access while an existing profile still depends on it.
If the browser-support connection is reported missing, an administrator can run sudo snap connect boollm:chromium-sandbox. Despite its name, this plug supplies Snap's browser-support interface. This Store release uses Snap strict confinement, with Chromium's separate renderer sandbox disabled in its packaged launcher.
Reopen Boollm normally after completing setup. No custom launch flags are needed. Boollm keeps its profile encrypted; keep your saved profile and encrypted identity. If startup still fails, send the version and error message to support, without passwords or private files.
Snip and screen recording require compatible desktop portals. Select the source yourself in the Ubuntu dialog; cancellation is supported. Linux recording is video only: microphone and system audio are not captured. If capture is unavailable, check your desktop's screenshot/screen-sharing support and try again. Preview captures before attaching or sharing them; starting a capture does not upload it.
Open a Hugging Face model in Boollm
On a Hugging Face model page, choose Use this model and pick Boollm. Boollm opens on its Discover models page with that repository selected, so you can review compatibility, size and license first. Nothing downloads, runs or changes until you choose Download or Use.
What the link covers. Text-generation repositories that publish GGUF files with a context length and a llama or qwen2 architecture. Other architectures, audio, vision, adapters and non-GGUF packages are not offered through the link; you can still search for them inside Boollm.
Where it works. Windows: Boollm from the Microsoft Store. Linux: Boollm from the Snap Store (sudo snap install boollm). Mac: the Mac App Store edition is awaiting review. On the released Windows and Linux editions, the link opens the app whether it is already running or not.
If nothing opens. Install Boollm from the store for your platform, open it once, then use the link again. If your browser asks whether to open Boollm, allow it.
Turning Boollm on in Hugging Face. Hugging Face shows the local apps you have enabled. In your Hugging Face settings, under Local Apps and Hardware, tick Boollm; it then appears under Use this model on eligible model pages.
Privacy. The link carries only the repository name and, optionally, a file name. Boollm sends nothing back to Hugging Face until you choose to download, and downloads go straight from huggingface.co to your computer.
Reporting AI content
If a response is harmful, deceptive or otherwise inappropriate, use Report AI Content rather than ordinary support.
Privacy and terms
What stays on your computer and what does not is set out in the Privacy Policy. The terms that come with the application are in the Terms of Service, including what each edition does and does not include.
What support does not cover
Boollm is not a substitute for professional judgement in legal, medical, financial or safety matters, and AI output can be wrong. Support cannot recover data you deleted, and it cannot see your chats - they are on your machine, not on a server.
