Privacy Policy

This page applies to the Boollm iPhone app. It is the same text shown in the app under Settings › About. The desktop editions have their own Privacy Policy and Terms. See also the iPhone Terms & Conditions.

1. Local-first operation

Boollm runs supported downloaded chat models on your iPhone. Chats, attachments, saved items, settings, and downloaded models are stored in app-controlled storage on the device. Boollm has no saz3 Labs login or sync service. This app does not integrate advertising trackers or its own usage-analytics service. Apple's device backup and diagnostic settings are separate from Boollm; app data may be included in a device backup unless excluded by iOS or the app. Downloaded model files are marked to be excluded from iCloud backup.

2. On-device protection

Saved items use an app-level encrypted vault. Its private key is kept in the iPhone Keychain for this device and is unavailable while the phone is locked. Other app data, including chats and attachments, relies on iOS app-container and device protections; the entire chat database does not have additional Boollm encryption. Content you deliberately export, share, or copy is governed by its destination and may no longer have the same protections.

3. When the network is used

Downloading a model contacts its model host. When web lookup is enabled or requested, Boollm sends the search query to a search service (DuckDuckGo or a fallback), and requests selected public pages. When web results are visible, their public domains are sent to DuckDuckGo to request website icons; no result path or query goes with those icon requests. Once you have agreed to lookups, a few words saying what each chat message is about are also sent to the search service as you send it, and to Bing's picture search when the message asks for a picture, so the web view is ready (never the message itself, and never in a private chat; hold the globe at the top of the chat to turn this off). When you ask to find or buy an item in a photo, a downloaded image reader describes its visible features on this iPhone and those search words may be sent; the photo itself stays on this iPhone. For a coding question it also sends key words of the question to Stack Overflow (api.stackexchange.com). When Boollm makes a page and lookups are allowed, it may send a few topic words to GitHub (api.github.com) and MDN (developer.mozilla.org), download a public example page and its licence, and send a script error message to MDN to look up what it means. The search service and visited sites can receive normal network information, including your IP address. Weather may use Apple's location or geocoding service and sends approximate coordinates to MET Norway for a forecast. When you ask for places near you, how far a place is or how long it takes to get there, the words of the search and your approximate location go to Apple Maps; when you ask where an attached photo was taken, its map coordinates go to Apple's geocoder to name the place. When you ask about events (for example concerts this weekend), the search words go to the search service and the top result pages are requested in a signed-out reader; for events near you, your approximate location goes to Apple Maps only to name your town, and the town's name, never your coordinates, is part of the search words. Other system or third-party services you explicitly use may process the content necessary for that action. When lookups are on and agreed to, the Today section of the new chat screen requests public headline feeds from NPR and BBC, public scoreboards from ESPN, the S&P 500, Dow and Nasdaq index tickers (plus your saved watchlist tickers, if any) from Yahoo Finance for a market strip, this week's dates to Nasdaq's public earnings calendar when you keep a watchlist, and, only if location is already allowed, the weather as described above; nothing from your chats is sent, and it can be turned off in Settings. A price check (“is this a good price?”, “any codes for…”) sends only the product words and a store name you mention to the search service and the store and coupon pages it reads; codes found this way are not checked, and Boollm earns nothing from any store or link. When you ask about a stock or a watchlist (including market-hours checks and alerts you turn on), only the tickers go to Yahoo Finance for prices, industry and recent headlines, and only this week's dates go to Nasdaq's public earnings calendar; the tickers you keep stay on this iPhone. When you add an MCP connection in Settings › Connections, Boollm contacts that server to list its tools; when a message uses one, the tool name and the details shown in the approval prompt (taken from your message) go to that server, and its reply comes back to this iPhone to answer from. Sign-in tokens for those servers stay in this iPhone’s Keychain; Delete everything removes them. A downloaded local chat model itself does not require Boollm to upload the conversation for inference.

4. Pictures in answers

Pictures in answers is on by default and can be turned off in Settings > Models & answers. Boollm may create one AI illustration for a suitable answer or up to three pictures for an illustrated story. Automatic generation uses Apple's on-device image maker on eligible iPhones running iOS 18.4–26 while Boollm is open on screen. Apple Intelligence must be enabled and its image assets downloaded first; once ready, automatic pictures work without internet and do not depend on web lookup or automatic web search settings. The current request and answer are used locally to plan illustrations; automatic picture generation does not send them to an image-search service. The pictures are AI illustrations, not real product photos or factual evidence. Private chats do not get automatic pictures. Automatic pictures are unavailable on iOS 27. Your chosen chat model does not change, and the text answer remains if a picture cannot be made; there is no automatic web-picture or Apple preview fallback. Pictures are saved with the chat on this iPhone until you share or delete them. Previously saved web pictures retain their original-page links, creator and licence credits, including when shared. Explicit Create requests can still use Apple's image-generation system and its preview; supported newer iOS versions may use Apple's Private Cloud Compute.

5. Permissions and sharing

The app asks for access to device features for the action you choose, such as microphone, photos, files, location, or screen capture. If you turn it on, the Today section of the new chat screen (and the Today column on a wide screen) reads your next calendar event, today's reminders and upcoming contact birthdays on this iPhone to show them; Boollm does not store or send them. When you ask about your steps, sleep, heart rate, distance or active calories, Boollm reads only the Apple Health data you allow, on this iPhone, to answer; it never writes to Health, keeps a copy or sends it anywhere. Reading an NFC tag, setting an alarm and running one of your Shortcuts happen on the iPhone. A signature you draw to sign PDFs is kept in app storage on this iPhone until you draw a new one or delete everything. If you turn on Show chats in iPhone Search, chat titles, first questions and part of the last answer are added to the iPhone's own on-device search index (never private chats or answers made from saved items); turning it off or deleting chats removes them. Screens and imported files remain in app-controlled storage unless you choose to share them or use a network feature that needs them. Sharing or sending feedback can disclose the selected text or media to the destination; inspect it before sending. A masking preview is a best-effort aid, not a guarantee that all private details are removed.

6. Retention and choices

Use Boollm's controls to delete chats, saved items, or downloaded models, and use iOS settings to revoke permissions. App deletion and device backups can have different effects; review your iOS backup settings. Third-party services retain what you send them according to their own policies. For questions or privacy requests, contact [email protected].

7. Changes

This in-app copy will be updated when material data practices change. It remains available without a network connection. The desktop policies published on the Boollm website describe different editions and do not replace this iPhone policy.
